Apple Crumb Pie

Ah, tis the holidays and that means it’s time to bake! And not just cookies. Try this Apple Crumb Pie recipe from the new Eckert Family Fall Cookbook. It’s  perfect for holiday parties or a nice dessert after a meal at home.

APPLE CRUMB PIE

5 cups apples, sliced, peeled
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
1 cup sugar, divided
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¾ cup flour
1/3 cup cold butter

Preheat oven to 450°F. Arrange apples in pie shell. Mix ½ cup of sugar with cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Mix remaining ½ cup sugar and the flour in small bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture forms pea-sized crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake an additional 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
